My mission is to use graphic design and illustration to entertain and empower. I work with mission-driven and performing arts organizations to enhance their visual language. When starting a new professional relationship I rely heavily on research and really get to know a client, their mission, and their problem before designing a solution.
I am currently the Graphic Designer & Project Manager for Chalkbeat, one of the largest non-profit news organizations in America. Throughout my time at Chalkbeat I have redesigned our social media graphics library and event listing system, handled multiple CMS migrations, and designed countless event graphics, internal and external decks, and illustrations for stories. Previously, I worked as the in-house designer for Pennsylvania Ballet and I began my career as an intern at SpotCo, designing key artwork for Broadway shows. I have a B.F.A. in Visual Communications from the University of Delaware.
“I hired Lauren to create a logo for my campaign. We went over the inspiration that I had and discussed the meanings behind it. Shortly after that she had a list of mock-ups for me to choose from and we refined the logo from there. I couldn’t be any happier with the process or the end product itself. Lauren was incredibly professional, communicative, and responsive.”
-Sean Wayland, Client
“Lauren is an incredibly creative and smart woman and I couldn’t recommend her more.”
-Kara Howland, Pennsylvania Ballet
“One of Lauren’s great skills is her ability to listen to ideas and synthesize them into a design. I appreciate how flexible she is and her ability to receive feedback in a positive way is commendable and valuable for a designer. She handled multiple departmental priorities in a professional graceful manner.”
-Kristine Medley Farmer, Pennsylvania Ballet
“Lauren puts a lot of heart into the work she does. She always does her research, making sure to understand the application of what she is working on. She is detail-oriented and there are well thought out reasons for all the design decisions she makes.”
-Krista Adams, Anthropologie
“Lauren, of the fast typing hands, plays the computer keyboard like a piano. Anyone is fortunate to have her on their staff. Missed at Brandywine.”
-Allan Edmunds, Brandywine Workshop
“Lauren’s level of organization is incredible bordering on terrifying.”
-Kara Wexler, Pennsylvania Ballet
“Lauren is the funniest person I know!”
